Jim Morrison

I have been fascinated by Jim Morrison since 1966. That fascination grew into an obsession over the years and now is a continuing interest in everything DOORS and JIM.

It all began in the summer of 1966, now it could possibly be 1967, but I am almost certain it was 1966. I was working in my father's plumbing shop stocking shelves at the age of 16 or 17 depending on the year. The radio in the shop was playing and I heard "Light My Fire". As I listened to the song I could hardly continue working. A chill went through my entire body and I had never before felt anything like that feeling then or since that time. It was that VOICE and the melody and music that I said at the time belonged to ME. It attached itself to me and said I AM FINALLY HERE FOR YOU. It was such an intense feeling it actually made me feel weak.

I went home after work and immediately bought the single 45 record "Light My Fire" by THE DOORS. I think the reverse side of the record was "Crystal Ship".
To this day, I can't explain the intensity of this singular experience. I knew nothing about Jim Morrison at that time. Actually for several years since that time I knew little about him other than he was a really wild guy. I paid little attention to the poetry and had no idea what the songs meant. I JUST LOVED THAT VOICE AND STILL DO.

TO BE CONTINUED.................................
